We are your certified backflow tester here in New Iberia, La

Testing backflow preventers is one of the unique plumbing jobs done by Master Drain Services.

Not all plumbers can conduct backflow tests. A licensed plumber must attend a 40-hour class and pass a rigorous written and hands-on exam to become a certified tester, and then re-certify every three years by again passing a written and hands-on exam.

I've been a certified backflow tester for 10 years.

Recently, a trucking company in New Iberia received a letter from LAWCO explaining that their annual backflow preventer certification was due. Another plumber usually conducts the backflow test for the trucking company, but he was out of town. The company hired me to complete the test.

Backflows are basically devices with check valves inside of them that prevent hazardous material from potentially entering the public water system. All commercial buildings are required to have them. And residential homes with irrigation systems are required to have backflow devices.

A lot of times when you see a public boil advisory it's because of the potential for hazardous materials entering the public water system.

I completed this particular backflow test; the device met all of the required criteria; and I hand-delivered a report to LAWCO office. Now this customer is good for another year until they need the backflow tested again in 2025.
