Water Line Repair In Lafayette After Worse Case Scenario

A sweet older lady living on Canberra Road in Lafayette, LA just south of the mall experienced a plumbing nightmare at 1 a.m. on a recent Sunday morning.

The hot side water supply line under her lavatory sink in her hall bathroom suddenly and spontaneously cracked and broke where it screws into the faucet.

She was sleeping but was awaken by the noise of running water at full pressure inside her house.

She quickly called two other local plumbing companies who advertise 24-hour service but no one answered her phone calls. She then called me, even though technically I don’t offer 24-hour service. I advised her to turn off the valve under the lavatory sink but she said it was stuck and she couldn’t get the handle to budge.

I immediately drove to her home and was there within 20 minutes.

Someone screwed the water supply line so tight onto the faucet that the plastic head of the water line, under constant water pressure for the past 30 years, finally cracked and broke spontaneously.

Her house had about 2 inches of standing water inside of it when I arrived. I immediately shut the water off at the meter. I made the water leak repair by replacing both the hot and cold water supply lines. And I checked all of her other water supply lines in her house.

I called my partners at Restoration 1 of Lafayette. Owner Drake Bajat answered in the wee hours of the night and had a team at the house within an hour with dehumidifiers, air movers, floor mats, a water extractor, and other equipment to clean up the wet mess. Fortunately, the lady’s homeowners insurance paid for the cleanup.
