No one likes cold showers, Kaplan, La
A customer in Kaplan, La this week called about not having any hot water in her mobile home. It turned out that the wiring to the thermostat shorted out and caused the electric water heater to malfunction. Since the water heater was more than 10 years old, I decided to essentially rebuild it. I removed and replaced the thermostat, the heating element and I flushed it out. You can see the amount of sediment buildup that came out of the water heater where I drained it in the shower. The moral of the story is a water heater needs to be flushed out once a year to help extend its operational life, and if your water heater is more than 10 years old and the water is taking a long time to get hot or is turning cool very quickly then the element probably needs to be changed on an electric water heater.
