Homeowner Attempt To Fix Rocking Toilet In Lafayette Leads To Call For Help To Plumber
A homeowner's attempt at a toilet repair in Lafayette today led to a phone call for help to Master Drain and Plumbing Services.
A toilet in a guest bathroom was rocking badly. So, the man of the house pulled up the old toilet to discover the existing flange that holds the toilet down securely to the floor was broken. But the solution to fix and repair the problem wasn't easy.
In this case there was a large void of space around the toilet sewer pipe coming from underground. So, there was nothing to screw bolts into to secure a new flange to the floor.
After a brief discussion with our new customer, who was referred by Robert Collins with Southside Air and Heat, who had been working at the home - I knew exactly what needed to be done to fix the problem.
We went in and poured cement into the void around the toilet pipe. That allowed us to have new cement to screw bolts into to secure a new flange to the floor. And since the customer had a new toilet already at the house sitting inside a box, we went ahead an installed their new toilet at no additional cost.
