Flushable Wipes & Baby Wipes Cause Drain Clogs

It’s becoming predictable every time we get a call for a toilet that won’t flush and is backing up - flushable or baby wipes are the cause of the slow flushing or backing up toilet.

In Lafayette, Broussard, Youngsville and throughout Acadiana, I estimate about 50% of the drain cleaning calls we receive lead to the discovery of wipes inside the drain pipes.

The best drain preventative maintenance is to simply not flush wipes down the toilet. The best thing to do if wipes are used is to place the wipes in regular toilet paper and then discard in a covered trash can sitting next to the toilet.

Wipes do not dissolve - even flushable wipes - and easily get caught on any imperfections inside your drain pipes, eventually causing the drain to backup.
