Dripping shower in Lafayette, La fixed!!

A customer in Lafayette this week had a leak under their custom glass bowl lavatory sink.

When I looked under the sink, I discovered someone used black vinyl electrical tape around a connection between two pipes under the sink.

Apparently, enough tape was used for the connection to hold the water back for a short amount of time.

It finally started leaking badly.

I took all of the tape off and installed a new tailpiece pipe that transitioned from 1 1/4-inch to 1 1/2-inch pipe.

However, that wasn't the end of the leaks. The person who installed the glass bowl used a washer that came with the sink under the strainer in the center of the bowl. It was leaking from there.

Most plumbers, including myself, toss aside the washer and use plumber's putty under the strainer. So, after installing the putty and testing the system, there were no more leaks. And the customer was happy.
