Commercial Business in Parks, LA Gets Required New Backflow Preventer

Did you know if you operate a commercial business in a commercial building, by law you are required to help protect the public water system with a backflow preventer?

A commercial hair salon business in Parks, LA recently got a required new backflow preventer.

Backflows are like fancy check valves, they prevent water from your building from flowing backwards into the public water supply due to siphonage or back pressure. It’s important in case hazardous stuff accidentally gets into your water pipes at any time, now or in the future. You don’t know what could happen in the future, such as accidents. What if the fertilizer bottle on the end of your water hose is siphoned back into your water pipes? People could become very sick from being poisoned, and not ever know why they got sick. It has happened many times before across the nation.

The city of Parks, LA recently got audited for its enforcement of a federal and state required backflow program. As such, many businesses recently received a letter from the city requiring that the business owners get a backflow preventer. And they are not cheap.
