Apprentice Clears Kitchen Sink Clog In Youngsville

A kitchen sink clog in Youngsville was cleared by my apprentice Jesus Morales this week.

As a master plumber one of my responsibilities is to train the next generation of plumbers. A big part of the training includes drain cleaning.

Besides getting on the job experience with me, Jesus gets book knowledge and some hands on experience from attending a plumbing school at South Louisiana Community College in New Iberia every night after work.

Training in Louisiana to become a licensed plumber is rigorous.

It takes a minimum of two years as a full-time apprentice to become a licensed residential plumber, and 4 years as a full time apprentice to become a licensed journeyman plumber.

Jesus is learning quickly and is showing initiative. He will be a good plumber one day in the future. And he’ll always have a job opportunity as a skilled tradesman - a plumber.
